1 dead, 5 injured in head-on crash in Kemptville, Ont.

Crash happened around 9:30 a.m. on County Road 44

One person is dead and five more are injured — three critically — after a head-on crash Sunday involving two passenger vehicles in Kemptville, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

The collision happened on County Road 44 just north of Beach Road at around 9:30 a.m., said Leeds Grenville paramedic service deputy chief Jonathan Sylvester.

Six patients were taken to the Civic campus of The Ottawa Hospital, with one transported by air, Sylvester said.

Three patients were in critical condition. OPP Sgt. Erin Cranton said one person was pronounced dead at the hospital.

One vehicle had two occupants and the other had four, Sylvester said.

County Road 44 was reopened just after 5 p.m., according to OPP.
