2 killed in T.C.H. crash near Southern Harbour exit, RCMP say
Collision closed highway for hours on Friday afternoon
Two people died in a collision on Friday that shut down a section of the Trans-Canada Highway on the Avalon Peninsula for hours, according to the RCMP.
The police force said two others were also injured.
Police say they responded to the collision shortly before noon on Friday near Jack's Pond just east of the Southern Harbour exit on the highway. Two vehicles were involved in the crash.
T.C.H. near Southern Harbour, N.L. reopens after hours-long closure
A 75-year-old man and a 78-year-old woman who were in an SUV were pronounced dead at the scene.
A pickup truck driver and the passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger's injuries were described as potentially life-altering.
The RCMP says the cause of the crash is under investigation.
