2026 FIM WMX Academy continues to inspire the next generation in France
The third edition of the FIM WMX Academy Weekend Training, organised in collaboration with the MXGP Academy, took place on 22-23 May 2026 in Lacapelle-Marival, France. Dedicated exclusively to female riders, the event welcomed 14 participants from France for an intensive weekend of riding, education and personal development.
The programme was delivered by former FIM Women's Motocross World Champion and highly experienced French Level 3 coach Livia Lancelot, alongside MXGP Academy coach Jan Postema, former 125cc and 250cc Grand Prix rider, 1984 Motocross of Nations World Champion and Level 3 coach.
Throughout the weekend, participants benefited from a comprehensive programme combining on-track coaching, technical guidance, physical preparation and educational sessions. As in previous editions, parents were also actively involved in the educational programme, receiving valuable advice and practical tools to help support their daughters' sporting development both on and off the track.
One of the most memorable moments of the weekend was a special visit from WMX star Lotte van Drunen. Lotte was one of the participants in the very first MXGP Academy programme created specifically for young female riders and has since gone on to become a two-time FIM Women's Motocross World Champion.
Her presence provided a powerful source of inspiration for the young riders attending the Academy and perfectly illustrated the long-term impact of the programme
Reflecting on the success of the weekend, Janika Judeika, Director of the FIM Women's Commission, said: "The WMX Academy is about much more than riding skills. It is about building confidence, creating opportunities and showing young girls that they belong in our sport. Seeing Lotte return to the Academy as a two-time World Champion was incredibly inspiring and a powerful reminder of why we launched this initiative. She once stood exactly where these young riders are today, and her journey proves that with passion, commitment and the right support, dreams can become reality."
The French edition was one of several events scheduled throughout Europe as part of the ongoing collaboration between the FIM Academy, the MXGP Academy and Infront Moto Racing.
The long-term objective remains clear: to strengthen rider development pathways, increase participation opportunities for girls and women, and promote greater diversity within international motocross. Through initiatives such as the FIM WMX Academy, the FIM and Infront Moto Racing are helping to shape a more inclusive future for the sport while inspiring the next generation of female champions.
