24-year-old woman dies after collision in Banff National Park
Crash, RCMP collision reconstructionist investigation shut down one lane on Highway 1
A woman is dead after a single vehicle collision Sunday morning near the entrance of Banff National Park, police say.
Banff RCMP responded to the collision on Highway 1, about two kilometres west of the entrance gates, at approximately 5:33 a.m., according to a media release issued Sunday afternoon.
RCMP say one passenger in the vehicle, a 24-year-old woman living in Canmore, was declared dead upon police arrival.
The crash and RCMP collision reconstructionist investigation shut down one lane on Highway 1 westbound, leading to traffic being significantly backed up for hours.
The road fully reopened at about 3:09 p.m., according to 511 Alberta.
RCMP say no further details are available.
