57 Thoughts I Had Rewatching "Breaking Dawn
Roughly 15 years ago, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 was released. I remember being such a Twihard and being so excited to see the film! I was Team Edward and was so ready to see the new journey he and Bella were about to embark on. My sister took me to see it even though she was definitely not a fan. Middle school me loved it so much! However, as the years passed, I kinda forgot about the franchise. I only thought about the films when others mentioned them or when I saw something about them online. Now that so much time has passed, I decided to rewatch the first Breaking Dawn to see how adult me feels about it. While watching, I had A LOT of thoughts! Take a look!
1. Oh, great, another "Jacob takes his shirt off" scene.

2. The werewolves must spend A LOT of money on clothes (mainly shorts, I guess) from them being ripped off as they transform.
3. How is Charlie possibly okay with Bella getting married so young? And getting married to the guy she went into a serious depression over.
4. Oh, Renée is happy Bella is getting married. She does not seem like the greatest influence, so, figures.
5. Hm, a warm color palette this time. Interesting how the movies seem to switch between dark and warm.
6. Why is Alice not super pale in this one? She has color. Clearly has blood running through her veins.

7. Alice is nice. I like Alice.
8. Why does Bella say, "Wait, you're not a virgin," as a joke? Isn't Edward actually a virgin?
9. Edward is also not super pale here? Why? I can also see he clearly has blood running through his veins.

10. So, are Edward and Bella going to keep going to high school after getting married and moving away? Why did the Cullens keep going to school for 100 years?
11. Did Bella not want kids? Did her and Edward ever discuss this?
12. I agree, Jessica! Who does get married at 18?
14. Does Bella not care that she won't ever see Charlie again? Does she not care that he will be heartbroken by the news of her "death"?
15. Aw, it is kinda sweet that all the nerves and anxiety wash off Bella when she sees Edward!
17. Jessica is such a hater! Alice put together a beautiful wedding!
18. The "you won't be getting any sleep" inside joke from Emmett during the reception speeches was wild! Half the room took it in an entirely different way.
19. I was always Team Edward, but it is nice to see a Jacob/Bella reunion.

20. Actually, Jacob is toxic. Glad Bella chose Edward (but Jacob was never a threat anyway).
21. I like awkward human Bella. It's a shame she will be a vampire soon.

22. Edward did ruin her honeymoon night reflection.
23. Edward is kinda funny in this movie. It's nice to see his personality come though.
24. Okay, how could a vampire impregnate someone? How do they have bodily fluids?
25. Is Nikki Reed wearing a wig?
26. I love how in the vampire baby argument with the Cullens and Jacob, they had to give Jasper a line and went with "possibly."
27. I'm sorry, but, no, Bella. This vampire pregnancy is scary. You are wasting away. The "let's stay positive" thing is not really working.
28. The werewolves' mind-reading conversation scene about coming for the Cullens and the vampire baby was so awkward.

29. Why is Seth leaving the pack to be help Jacob? Seth is just a baby. He cannot risk his life!
30. Now Leah is leaving the pack too?! Wild!
31. Aw, Esme is giving Jacob, Seth, and Leah sandwiches. So sweet!
32. I'm sorry, but how did Bella even get pregnant? Isn't Edward like made of super-hard porcelain or something?
33. The look Jasper makes when Carlisle said he had some human blood stored away! Like, "Why were you guys holding out on me?"
34. Oh, yeah, putting the human blood in a styrofoam cup makes it totally less gross to drink...
35. Craving human blood! New pregnancy craving unlocked!
36. Um, there is still quite a bit of blood left in those bags. Why are they throwing them out? Wasteful!
37. Poor Charlie. Always out of the loop. She tells him she is going to a medical center in Switzerland? If my child married into a very rich family and was saying this, I'd be very concerned.
38. "EJ" for Edward Jacob...okay.
39. Renesmee is actually a cute name. I don't get why people don't like it.
40. Poor Bella. This birth scene is scary!
41. Jacob saying "keep that away from me" when Edward asked him to hold the baby was kinda funny.
42. Rosalie walking into the room to get the baby and not even caring that Bella might just be dead on the table was wild!
43. Edward is attempting to turn her into a vampire before she dies. So a syringe of venom can be stored at room temperature? Good to know.
44. So how did Jacob and Edward giving Bella chest compressions not break her?

45. Jacob blaming Edward and taunting him is so Jacob.
46. Just when you think the movie cannot get any weirder, Jacob imprints on Bella's half-vampire baby who he was initially going to kill.
47. Okay, I am Team Edward, and I like the Cullens, but the werewolves' hatred of vampires is pretty legit.
48. So, how is not hurting who a werewolf imprints on their most absolute law? I mean, okay, but the most absolute law? That seems a bit much.
49. How are they so sure Bella is alive and will turn after the birth? Wasn't Carlisle just saying the other day that she was not going to make it?
50. The love story montage with the "Bella's Lullaby" playing alongside it was actually beautiful!
51. Why is each person in a different room waiting for Bella to wake?
52. Whoa, she's a vampire now. Nice ending.
53. Post-credits scenes should be illegal. I'm pretty sure I already left the theater before it came on when I first saw the movie.
54. The girl getting killed for spelling "Carlisle" wrong! To be fair, "Carlisle" is a hard name to spell.
55. I love Jamie Campbell Bower!
56. Marcus saying "at least our dispute with the Cullens is over" just for Aro to be like "eh, no, they have something I WANT!" They just hadddd to make things dramatic.
57. Love Bruno Mars, but the "It Will Rain" song did not match the vibe of the movie.
Overall, this was an... interesting watch! Adult me watched this film and laughed quite a bit over the cringey, dramatic scenes and odd storylines. However, the film (along with the other Twilight films), is very nostalgic and makes me reflect back on when I was first introduced to the franchise. Oh, how I miss the late-2000s and early-2010s. I look back and see how happy they made me and how cute I thought the Edward and Bella love story was! Even though I can now see it was... not the healthiest. While this film is not the best thing ever created, it was definitely entertaining! Minus the Jacob and Renesmee storyline. I mean, really? This was very weird. I vote NO for a potential Jacob and Renesmee spinoff.
