A Seminar on Artificial Intelligence and the SDGs: A Social Science Perspective
The Department of Social Science, American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB), organized a seminar titled “Artificial Intelligence and SDGs: A Social Science Perspective” on 19 August 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall, D Building, Level 10. The seminar featured Dr. Adnan Pavel, a UK-based academic specializing in Governance and Politics, as the keynote speaker.
The seminar focused on the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly from a social science perspective. Dr. Pavel discussed the broader social, political, governance, and developmental implications of AI, highlighting both the opportunities and challenges associated with its increasing integration into various sectors of society.
The session provided students with an opportunity to enhance their understanding of the intersection between technological advancement and sustainable development. Dr. Pavel’s insights enabled students to connect academic knowledge with contemporary global issues and encouraged critical reflection on the role of AI in shaping governance, society, and future development.
