Advanced Nanocomposite Materials Startup ‘Kimtechnics’ Secures Funding from CNTTech
Kimtechnix, a South Korean advanced materials company specializing in nanocomposite materials that precisely control optical, electrical, and thermal properties, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from CNTTech.
The investment was made through the KDB NextONE–CNTTech–BDC Startup Investment Partnership, a jointly managed fund.
Kimtechnix develops composite materials that utilize nano-scale material technology to precisely control optical, electrical, and thermal characteristics. With the new capital, the company plans to accelerate technology advancement, establish mass-production capabilities, and expand into new markets.
In the optical domain, Kimtechnics controls refractive index through ultra-low and ultra-high refractive materials. In the electrical domain, it controls permittivity with ultra-low dielectric materials. In the thermal domain, the company precisely adjusts thermal conductivity properties.
To achieve these capabilities, Kimtechnix is building a platform of functional nanocomposite materials based on core technologies including inorganic nanoparticle synthesis and surface treatment, organic composition design, and nanoparticle dispersion and interface control.
A key differentiator for Kimtechnix is that it goes beyond simply achieving target material properties. The company designs materials with both processability and patternability so they can be integrated into customers’ actual manufacturing processes and device structures.
By securing material technologies compatible with coating, thin-film deposition, photolithography, inkjet patterning, and other customer fabrication processes, Kimtechnix is evolving research-stage functional materials into solutions that can be deployed in real mass-production environments.
Currently, the company is expanding its technology platform to include ultra-low refractive and ultra-high refractive optical materials, ultra-low dielectric materials, and thermal-conductivity-controlled materials. Kimtechnics is pursuing commercialization through joint development and performance evaluation projects with major semiconductor, display, and optics companies in South Korea and abroad.
The startup plans to expand its business scope beyond next-generation optical devices such as advanced OLED displays, humanoid robot vision systems, autonomous driving sensors, and AR smart glasses to include diverse optical-electrical-thermal convergence applications including advanced semiconductor packaging insulators, substrates, and thermal-management materials.
“Kimtechnix is not a materials company developing a single specific product,” said CEO Jihoon Kim. “We are a materials platform company that designs the optical, electrical, and thermal properties our customers require, based on organic–inorganic hybrid nanocomposite technology, and implements those properties in real device processes. We continue to expand our technology to control refractive index in the optical domain, permittivity in the electrical domain, and thermal conductivity in the thermal domain.”
“With this funding, we will strengthen our R&D capabilities for core materials and our mass-production readiness, and create new material solutions together with global customers in next-generation high-tech industries such as semiconductors, displays, humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles, and AR/XR,” Kim added.
With the new capital, Kimtechnix plans to further advance its organic–inorganic hybrid nanocomposite technology, strengthen development of materials optimized for customers’ processes and devices and mass-production response capabilities, and pursue business expansion with global customers and follow-on funding rounds.
South Korea has seen growing investor interest in deep-tech materials startups addressing advanced manufacturing challenges. In August 2026, Point2 Technology raised an $80 million Series B extension, bringing its cumulative funding to $140 million, to scale AI-driven interconnect solutions for next-generation semiconductors. In July, defense RF module specialist JLABS landed $8.1 million in a pre-IPO round to fund missile-defense localization and an IPO push, while SPECTRAINTEL secured seed funding from Kakao Ventures to advance ultra-compact hyperspectral imaging sensors for defense and space applications.
