AI startup Ema raises $77 million in funding led by Creaegis

Enterprise AI startup Ema has raised $77 million in a Series B round led by Creaegis, with existing investors Accel, S32 and Prosus also increasing their investments in the company. The round takes Ema’s total funding to $140 million and more than quadruples its valuation from the previous round.

Moneycontrol was the first to report in July that Ema was in talks to raise around $80 million from Creaegis and existing investors at a valuation of around $800 million. The funding talks came shortly after Creaegis led a $130 million round in AI startup Emergent.

Founded in 2023 by former Coinbase chief product officer Surojit Chatterjee and Souvik Sen, Ema builds AI Employees for enterprise functions including HR, IT and finance. Its platform allows companies to deploy AI agents that can plan and execute workflows across the applications and systems they already use.

Ema will use the fresh capital to expand its go-to-market organisation and continue investing in its enterprise AI platform. The company said it has already hired multiple senior leaders as it prepares to scale its commercial operations.

“Enterprises do not need more software. They need work to get done,” said Chatterjee, CEO and co-founder of Ema. “Our customers are not running experiments; they are running their HR, IT and Finance operations on AI Employees at a scale of millions of interactions a year. This round lets us bring that to many more enterprises still stuck in the pilot stage.”

Ema said its revenue has grown 50 times over the past 24 months, while customers typically double their value as they expand from an initial deployment into two or three additional use cases.

The company’s customers include Wipro, Hitachi, ADP and PwC. Ema said its platform integrates with more than 250 business applications and systems of record.

According to the company, its platform at Wipro is used by more than 240,000 employees across 65 countries and handles around 2.9 million employee queries annually. At NTU Data, Ema said its AI Employees handle more than 1 million IT service management tickets and over 1 million calls across more than 15 languages. At Hitachi, the company said it moved from concept to production in four weeks, integrating with more than 20 systems and serving over 40,000 employees.

Prakash Parthasarathy, managing partner and chief investment officer at Creaegis, said Ema stood out among agentic AI startups because its platform is already being used at enterprise scale.

“Many agentic AI companies have compelling demos, but few have proven they can deliver in production at enterprise scale,” Parthasarathy said. He added that Ema had built a scalable product platform rather than a services model dependent on bespoke implementations.

Ema’s Series B comes as enterprises increasingly move from experimenting with generative AI to deploying AI agents in business-critical workflows. The company said its platform allows organisations to start with one function and expand across HR, IT and finance on the same platform.
