Alberta invites over 1,000 healthcare, tech, and rural community

Over the course of May 1–May 13, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) conducted four selection rounds, inviting more candidates to apply for provincial nomination.

A total of 1,051 AAIP candidates received invitations, including health and tech professionals, and individuals planning to reside and work in rural Alberta communities.

As of the time of this writing, Alberta has held a total of 36 provincial immigration draws in 2026.

The AAIP’s latest four draws issued invitations under the following streams and pathways:

The greatest number of invitations were issued through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, accounting for about 79.2% of all May invites.

These latest draws align with established provincial nomination and draw priorities. On its official webpage, Alberta lists healthcare, technology, and Rural Renewal Stream invitations among its list of “highest priorities for 2026.”

To date, Alberta has invited no fewer than 6,269 AAIP candidates to apply for provincial nomination—most of which were issued through the Alberta Opportunity Stream (3,857).

Breakdown of Alberta’s provincial nomination figures

As of May 14, Alberta had used 2,191 of the 6,403 nomination spaces allocated to the province by the federal government — leaving 4,212 nominations remaining overall.

Separate from its regular PNP allocation, Alberta has also used additional nomination spaces to attract practice-ready physicians (50) and francophone candidates (12) to the province.

Expressions of Interest and applications awaiting processing

Alberta’s published data also provides stream-by-stream breakdowns regarding the number of EOIs and provincial nomination applications it has in its inventory awaiting a final decision.

As of May 14, the province had a total of 40,161 worker EOIs in its candidate pool—1,602 fewer than it did on April 29 (the date of the last data update). The majority of these (63.7%) are under the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

No fewer than 1,303 applications are currently in the AAIP’s inventory awaiting processing.

*AAIP entrepreneur streams are not included in the worker EOI pool, as they are subject to a separate consideration process.
