The Alberta RCMP is reminding people about the dangers of driving while impaired due to drugs or alcohol this Canada Day.
So before driving this Canada Day, people should remember:
– Impaired driving is dangerous and criminal
– Driving under the influence impairs judgment and reaction time
– Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) is a tool used by Alberta RCMP to deter impaired driving
– Drivers who refuse to provide a breath sample can be criminally charged
– Individuals with a Graduated Driver’s License must abide by the zero-tolerance law
– Impaired driving is always preventable
– Impaired driving laws apply to all motorized vehicles
“However you choose to celebrate Canada Day, never operate a motorized vehicle, including boats and OHVs, if impaired from drugs or alcohol,” Sgt. Darrin Turnbull said.
“Everyone should be able to make it home safely this holiday. If you suspect someone is driving impaired, call 9-1-1.”
