All of the Sitcoms Canceled in 2026, So Far

The fall 2026 TV season will feature a mix of returning and new shows, with the latter arriving in the wake of recent cancellations, including a few sitcoms.

Over the upcoming weeks, several fan-favorite sitcoms — including ABC's Abbott Elementary — will return for new episodes, while others will make their debuts, like NBC's Newlyweds. But as comedy lovers meet new characters and are introduced to fresh story lines, they also had to say goodbye to a few sitcoms following their cancellations earlier this year.

Fox sophomore series Going Dutch, NBC's mockumentary sitcom Stumble and CBS' workplace comedy DMV all received cancellations in 2026 — but some of their creators are still trying to find a new streaming home for the shows.

"When you have something as joyful & magical as this, you don't let it go," Stumble co-writer Liz Astrof wrote on Instagram in May 2026. "We CAN. We WILL. We MUST … find another home for our #stumble family."

Here's a look at the sitcoms canceled in 2026, so far.

The NBC cheerleading sitcom Stumble starred Taran Killam and Jenn Lyon, and also featured Kristin Chenoweth in a recurring role.

In May, NBC canceled the mockumentary-style show after one season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was one of the network's least watched titles.

"Creatively, we loved this show," Lisa Katz, president of scripted content at NBC, told Deadline in May 2026. "I think we could all think of shows that we loved creatively that unfortunately, didn't go beyond one season. We're incredibly proud of it, and think it had so much humor and so much heart. I'm disappointed that it's not continuing."

Stumble aired its season 1 finale in March 2026.

Set at the East Hollywood Department of Motor Vehicles, the workplace comedy DMV was removed from the lineup after one season.

The series — which starred Tim Meadows, Harriet Dyer and Tony Cavalero — followed all the drama, romance and misadventures of the DMV employees throughout their daily lives.

A few weeks after its cancellation, network president Amy Reisenbach addressed the news during a conversation with Deadline that April, saying that "it's a high bar on CBS."

"We aggregate all the numbers, and we have to make those tough decisions in order to make room for new shows," she said.

The show's final episode was released in May.

Going Dutch stars Denis Leary as a washed-up colonel who is sent to Garrison Stroopsdorf, the army's smallest (and least competent) military base located in the Netherlands.

The sitcom wrapped its second season in April, and was canceled by Fox at the start of May. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show brought in an average of less than 2 million live viewers per week.

Meanwhile, Variety noted that month that Fox has also been shifting away from its scripted programming in recent years, veering further into unscripted formats and game shows.
