Arrest after police rooftop incident
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after an incident on a major road in Coventry.
West Midlands Police were called to Foleshill Road at about 14:00 BST on Tuesday, after reports of a man on the roof of a building.
The road was cordoned off while emergency services remained at the scene for several hours. The road reopened at about 17:30 BST, according to the council.
Police said the matter was bought to a safe conclusion and the man remains in custody for questioning.
The force is urging any witnesses to contact them.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said on Tuesday: "We are currently on Foleshill Road along with other emergency services, due to a man being on the roof of a building.
"Officers are talking to the man in an effort to bring the incident to a safe conclusion."
One witness, who did not want to be named, described the incident as "shocking".
"One minute I'm having my lunch, then I'm looking out my window to see about seven police officers and a man on a roof," they told the BBC.
