Artificial Intelligence Issue Favors Democrats

Nearly two-thirds of voters want government regulation of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, and Democrats have a significant advantage on the issue.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 64% of Likely U.S. Voters believe that the government needs to regulate artificial intelligence technology, up from 61% in March.Just 26% now think that the government needs to stay out of the way and let the free market decide about artificial intelligence, while 10% are not sure. The survey of 1,074 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on September 16-17 and 20, 2026 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
