Ayushmann Khurrana to star in YRF
Actor Ayushmann Khurrana has been roped in to play the lead in Mupapa, the first feature film to be jointly produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF) and Posham Pa Pictures, the makers announced on Wednesday.
Described as a genre-defying theatrical entertainer, the film is slated to hit cinemas on February 19, 2027.
The project will be directed by Sameer Saxena, best known for creating and directing popular web series such as Tripling, Yeh Meri Family and Permanent Roommates. Saxena also directed the 2022 fantasy sports drama Jaadugar, featuring Jitendra Kumar.
Mupapa will be produced by Yash Raj Films CEO Akshaye Widhani. His most recent production, Saiyaara, emerged as the highest-grossing romantic film in the history of Indian cinema, according to the makers.
The collaboration between YRF and Posham Pa Pictures is expected to continue beyond Mupapa, with both production houses planning to jointly develop and produce more theatrical films in the future.
According to the announcement, the partnership reflects producer Aditya Chopra's broader strategy of expanding Yash Raj Films' creative and production ecosystem under Widhani's leadership.
