The Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers have reportedly agreed to a trade before Monday's 6 p.m. EDT deadline.

According to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, the Blue Jays have acquired infielder/outfielder Josh Smith from the Rangers.

"Rangers are trading Josh Smith to Toronto," Grant wrote on X. "Getting lefty Adam Macko in return."

In the trade, the Rangers will also receive minor league starting pitcher Josh Stephan, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Smith, 28, is a five-year veteran who helped lead the Rangers to a World Series title in 2023.

Defensively, the left-handed hitter can play all over the diamond except at the catcher's position. Smith has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock three times by the Rangers in 2026.

In 45 Major League games this season, he slashed .213/.299/.272 with one home run and a .571 OPS. Smith's offensive production has spiraled in recent years, following a career high .731 OPS with 13 homers in 149 games in 2024.

Though the Blue Jays are sellers at this deadline, they plan to contend in 2027. The AL East club added Jose Soriano to their rotation in a trade with the Los Angeles Angels earlier today.

Smith is under club control through the 2028 season.
