Carney launches new national council on artificial intelligence
Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced the creation of a new National Council on Artificial Intelligence, aimed at helping Canada respond to the rapid development of AI and make the most of its economic opportunities.
The council will bring together leaders and experts from across the artificial intelligence sector, including business, academia and other areas, to provide advice to the federal government.
Its work will focus on strengthening Canada’s AI capabilities, encouraging innovation and investment, supporting the adoption of AI across the economy and ensuring the technology is developed and used responsibly.
The government says the council will help shape Canada’s approach to artificial intelligence and support efforts to keep the country competitive as AI continues to transform industries and workplaces.
