City at the FC Pro World Championships: Everything you need to know

The FC Pro World Championship began yesterday, with Matias Bonanno, Jafonso and Guga all competing to win the coveted trophy, with a prize pool of $1.5 million also up for grabs.

So, as our pros continue to fight for a place in the knockouts, here is everything you need to know about the competition…

Following our historic fourth ePremier League title, Jafonso and Bonanno qualified for the FC Pro World Championship through our league win.

Guga, who will represent Santa Clara at the tournament, secured his place in dramatic fashion in the Play-Ins.

Each pro will play six games with a win earning them three points, a draw one point and a defeat zero.

After their six matches, the top 24 competitors with the highest number of points will qualify for the Knockout Stage.

From there, players will compete in a single elimination bracket in a fight to be crowned the best in the world.

In the carousel below, you can see all of the League Phase matches for Guga, Jafonso and Bonanno.

And after the games in day 1, Bonanno won both of his games, Guga won one and lost one and Jafonso has work to do following his two narrow defeats.
