Collision in western Quebec leaves 2 dead

Police say 4 other people were hurt in the crash

Two people are dead following a collision on route 105 in the Outaouais Friday afternoon that left multiple others injured, according to Quebec provincial police.

Sûreté du Québec said a girl and a woman in her 60s were killed in the crash.

Emergency crews were called to the stretch of road near Gracefield, Que., around 2 p.m.

Police said a vehicle driving south lost control, then collided with a vehicle heading in the opposite direction. Six people were injured in the crash.

The woman and girl who died were in the vehicle that spun out, along with two other people who were also hurt, according to investigators.

Police said a second girl in the vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries, and a boy was seriously injured, but is expected to survive.

In the other vehicle were another woman and boy who were also transported to hospital, but police said their lives are not in danger.

The highway was closed for several hours, but reopened around 7 pm.

Police said their investigation is ongoing.
