Community events, live performances set for busy Strathmore weekend

Strathmore residents will have several events and activities to choose from this weekend, ranging from live performances to community activities.

Events taking place Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, include programming from the Town of Strathmore, Strathmore High School, local musicians and the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings.

The Town of Strathmore will host its annual Equipment in the Park event in recognition of National Public Works Week.

The event is scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kinsmen Park and will feature heavy equipment and trucks used by town crews.

Residents will have the opportunity to meet town staff and operators, and some attendees may also get the chance to sit inside the equipment.

High School Musical hits the stage

Drama students at Strathmore High School are set to present their production of High School Musical this weekend.

Performances are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the school theatre.

The theatre production will feature several rotating casts.

Spring recital planned at Strathmore Alliance Church

Music teacher Ally Brigley will host her studio’s 2026 spring recital Sunday at Strathmore Alliance Church.

The performances will feature piano and vocal students from the studio.

“We're doing two concerts on the same day because our studio has grown so much, we had to split it into two concerts,” Brigley said.

The first recital begins at 4 p.m., followed by a second performance at 6 p.m. Admission is by donation.

The Town of Strathmore and the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings are also bringing back the Paint the Rink event for a second year.

The event will begin Sunday with a final public skate at the Strathmore Family Centre from 11 a.m. to noon before the ice is removed for the season.

Residents will then be invited onto the ice to paint and take part in activities until 1 p.m.

The Happy Gang is also hosting a bake sale and garage sale on Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m. to noon. at the Lambert Centre.
