Conservative MP Larry Brock set to resign Sept. 18
Conservative Member of Parliament Larry Brock announced Thursday he will be resigning on Sept. 18.
In social media platform X, Brock, who represents Brantford-Brant South said he has accepted a position at the Brantford Crown Attorney's office, following careful consideration.
"My commitment to community safety hasn't wavered one bit, and getting back into the courtroom means I can keep being tough on crime, making sure real justice happens right here at home," he said in the statement.
Brock was first elected to the House of Commons in the 2021 federal election. He was re-elected in 2025. Earlier this summer, Brock stepped back from his role as shadow minister of justice.
In Thursday's letter, he said the journey has been "incredibly inspiring" and representing Brantford-Brant South has been "the honour of a lifetime."
"The trust this community placed in me throughout my time in office is something I'll carry forever," he said. "This is a community that values hard work, public safety, and personal responsibility."
Brock expressed his thankfulness to his team and the Conservative party.
"But most of all, my deepest thanks go to my wife, Angela and my daughters Jennie and Emma. Being a politician's family asks a lot, and their unwavering faith in me has been my greatest source of strength," he said.
In a post to X, Progressive Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre thanked Brock.
"Thank you, Larry, for fighting to end Liberal bail, to lock up criminals, to restore safe streets and to support victims; and for your tireless work for the people of Brantford—Brant South—Six Nations," he said. "My ardent wish is for you and your family to have all the success and happiness in the world. God bless, my friend."
