Crowds gather in Coleraine to celebrate Armed Forces Day
People have gathered in Coleraine town centre to celebrate Armed Forces Day.
It is celebrated across the UK every June to give the public an opportunity to recognise serving troops, reserves and veterans for their service.
Events on the day in Coleraine included an Armed Forces Day parade, a ceremonial gun salute and an RAF Falcons parachute display.
Deputy First Minister Emma Little Pengelly was in attendance, and said the event allowed people to show their gratitude to the armed forces.
"I think it's incredibly important, both to remember all of those who have served and have sacrificed so much for the defence of our nation, but also to remember all of those who are currently serving and what they do day in day out," she said.
"The sunshine does bring more people out, but I think it is a real testimony to how highly regarded our armed forces are."
Many gathered to watch the day's events including Alison Johnston and her daughter Violeta.
"Having served 23 years, military life is still a very important part of my life," Alison said.
Violeta said it was important to watch the event with her mum as it enabled her to "get a part of army culture and embrace what the Army and soldiers have done for us".
Adrian and Andrea Pearson also attended, and Adrian said it was important to come out and show support for the armed forces.
"They put on a great show, and there was a great turnout for ex-service members," he said.
