Cyprus-founded Piney raises €1.6 million to take its rental operations platform beyond Europe
Piney, a Cyprus-founded cleaning and operations provider for short- and mid-term rental property managers, has raised €1.6 million.
The funding round was led by Uni.fund, which had also led the company’s €1.2 million funding round in December 2024. This funding round also saw participation from 33East, which joins an investor base including VENTERI Capital.
“Piney has executed exactly as we hoped when we first backed them: disciplined growth, strong unit economics, and a product property managers rely on daily. Supporting their expansion beyond Europe was a natural next step,” said Sotiris Papantonopoulos, Partner at Uni.fund.
Founded in 2022, Piney positions itself as more than a cleaning company, serving over 5,000 properties across Spain, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, France, and the United States. The startup says it can cut the operational workload of property managers by up to 80% through its combination of in-house cleaning teams, automated scheduling, and a real-time monitoring dashboard.
It runs a full operational layer for short- and mid-term rental managers, covering cleaning, laundry and linen management, and the sourcing and placement of guest amenities, all coordinated through its own technology platform. This platform, the company says, allows it to scale like a software company rather than a traditional, hands-on, people-heavy hospitality business.
Since its last funding round in late 2024, Piney has expanded from 1,300 to 5,000 properties under management, nearly quadrupling its footprint in under two years. Spain is now the company’s biggest market, with teams on the ground in Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga, alongside operations in Greece, Cyprus, Portugal and France.
“This round is about taking what we’ve proven across Europe and bringing it to the world. In under two years, we’ve almost quadrupled the properties we serve, and our technology, increasingly AI-driven, is what makes that pace possible. Property managers everywhere face the same operational challenges, and with Miami, we’re showing that Piney’s model travels,” said Nicolas Chrysostomou, founder and CEO of Piney.
Piney will use the new funding to deepen its position in its existing European markets, speed up development of its technology platform and support its expansion outside its push outside Europe, which began with the recent launch of services in Miami, its first market on the other side of the Atlantic.
Alongside using Miami as a template for its expansion outside Europe, the company is also adopting AI to transform how Piney operates. The company said its platform now reviews, in real time, the photos that cleaners take during property checks, catching problems before staff leave the property rather than after a guest complains.
Piney said it plans to build AI further into more parts of its workflow as the platform matures.
