D.CAMP, a growth partner for startups operated by the Banks Foundation for Young Entrepreneurs, announced on the 16th that it will hold the fourth D.CAMP Batch “D.Day” at D.CAMP Mapo on the 29th. The D.CAMP Batch is a scale-up program that identifies promising startups each quarter and provides intensive support for 12 months.
The event’s slogan is “Paths to Orbit: Seven Records.” It will bring together seven deep-tech startup CEOs who have commercialized their technologies to share the pivotal decisions and choices they faced along their growth journeys.
The event is designed as a platform for entrepreneurs to share the challenges they faced as their businesses grew. Rather than listing each company’s technologies or achievements, the speakers will focus on the challenges and setbacks they encountered in the field, as well as the considerations behind their decisions.
The fourth D.CAMP Batch was selected last year from a pool of applicants in a competition with approximately 70 applicants per spot. Upon moving into D.CAMP Mapo, the startups received comprehensive support, including dedicated mentoring, business strategy development, networking with entrepreneurs and investors, and resources tailored to each stage of growth.
The sessions are organized around three themes that reflect the growth journey of startups: market validation, customer conversion, and business expansion. The first session, “How We Persuaded the Market Without Revenue or a Product,” will share how the companies convinced the market of their technologies’ potential before their products and revenue streams were established. Participants include Park Dongha, CEO of Kosmobi, which develops high-efficiency electric propulsion systems for small cluster satellites, and Kim Jungho, CEO of Idea Ocean, a manufacturing AI solutions company that autonomously generates mechanical designs for robots and mobility applications.
The second session, “Turning Customer Curiosity into Real Contracts,” will feature Park Jeonghyeok, CEO of Tefarobotics, a company developing standardized, general-purpose AI models and solutions for bin picking; Hwangbo Minseong, CEO of First Lab, a company offering solutions that use focused ultrasound technology to completely destroy highly toxic hazardous substances on site; and Yoon Haksun, CEO of Space LiinTech, a space-based pharmaceutical platform company developing high-quality new drugs using the microgravity environment of space. They will share their experiences identifying customer demand for their technologies and assessing their commercial potential before moving on to validation.
The final session, “Building a Repeatable Growth Model,” will feature Kim Eunhak, CEO of Gaptech, a climate-tech gas treatment solutions company that handles greenhouse gases and toxic gases from the semiconductor and advanced industries, and Kim Sekwon, CEO of Fit-in, an energy infrastructure platform connecting commercial electric vehicles with autonomous driving fleets. They will discuss how they changed their organizations and operations to turn early achievements into sustainable growth.
Science communicator Gwedo will moderate the event, exploring the decisions and strategies needed to help deep-tech innovations win market acceptance and become viable businesses.
Applications are open on the D.CAMP website through the 27th. Anyone interested in deep tech, including deep-tech entrepreneurs, researchers, aspiring entrepreneurs, investors, and partner companies, may apply.
