Eastbourne town centre roadworks set to start
Road improvements are set to start in Eastbourne town centre on Sunday and are forecast to last for five days.
Strengthening and resurfacing work will take place at Devonshire Place 24 hours a day, East Sussex County Council says.
The works, which are required because of the impact of winter weather, are aimed at making journeys smoother and safer.
An East Sussex Highways spokesperson said they appreciated the work "may cause some disruption" and thanked residents, businesses and visitors for their patience.
Devonshire Place will be closed to traffic in phases and diversion routes will be in place.
Buses are currently being diverted due to the condition of the road and will return to the area once the work is complete.
"Eastbourne welcomes thousands of visitors each summer, and we know how important it is to keep the town moving during this busy period," the highways spokesperson said.
"This is why the work has been planned carefully and scheduled to be completed ahead of the main tourist season."
