Flats plan approved for former city baths

Plans to convert a former Victorian swimming pool into apartments have been approved.

East Hull Pools opened in 1898 but has stood empty since 2018 after a new pool was built at a nearby leisure centre.

Hull City Council approved plans submitted by JR Holmes Ltd to convert the Holderness Road premises into 24 apartments.

Three rooftop and 12 mezzanine flats will be built where the main swimming pool stood.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, a further eight flats will be created where the small swimming pool used to be, while former function rooms on the first floor will be converted into a two-bed flat and management office.

As part of the planning agreement, JRL Holmes Ltd are also committed to paying £21,600 towards affordable housing elsewhere in Hull and £17,850 towards an open space.
