Google Gemini app is now available on Windows

Google has launched the Gemini app for Windows, giving PC users a dedicated desktop version of its AI assistant.

The app can be opened from anywhere using the Alt + Space keyboard shortcut, allowing users to access Gemini without leaving their current application. It can be used for tasks such as checking information in documents or generating ideas while working.

The Windows app also provides a dedicated workspace for more advanced tasks. Users can hand off multi-step tasks to Gemini Spark, Google’s AI agent, or ask Gemini to create summaries using information from Google apps such as Gmail and Google Drive.

For creative work, the app supports image and video generation directly from the desktop. Users can create images using Nano Banana and generate videos with Gemini Omni.

Google says the app is designed to run quietly in the background without significantly affecting PC performance, with more native Windows features planned for future updates.

The Gemini app is available globally for PCs running Windows 10 and Windows 11. Users can get the app through Google’s Gemini desktop page.
