Home invasion in Northern Alberta prompts RCMP investigation

Wood Buffalo RCMP are on the hunt for two suspects involved in a home invasion that occurred during the early hours of July 9 at a residence in Gregoire Lake Reserve, south of Fort McMurray.

According to an RCMP release Thursday, two armed men entered the home, and assaulted the victim at gunpoint.

The men also demanded that the victim give them their phone and money before fleeing the scene on a black side by side.

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries from the attack.

An extensive search of the area failed to turn up the two men, Mounties said.

However, a subsequent investigation by the Wood Buffalo RCMP identified the suspects as two 35-year-old Fort McMurray males; Jeremy Lacorde, and Leighton Haineault.

While Lacorde, in addition to multiple assault charges, is facing charges including: robbery with a firearm, two counts of Theft under $5000 and fail to comply with release order.

Police say both suspects are on the loose and are known to carry weapons.

Lacorde and Haineault frequent the Fort McKay, Fort McMurray and Lac La Biche areas, the public is being warned not to approach them.

The investigation is ongoing, Wood Buffalo RCMP is asking anyone who knows the whereabouts of Lacorde and Haineault to contact 780-788-4000 or 310-7267.
