In a month since LG U+ fully introduced generative artificial intelligence (AI) into its in-house business, the utilization rate of employees has exceeded 80%. As AI has established itself in daily tasks such as report writing and data classification, the company-wide artificial intelligence transformation (AX) is in full swing.
LG U+ announced on the 22nd that its employee usage rate has exceeded 80% since it introduced the paid version of Microsoft (MS) Copilot as a company-wide standard work tool since the 18th of last month.
During the month of its introduction, the cumulative number of prompts exceeded 440,000. In other words, each employee used AI 86 times on average. It was counted that 63% of all users use Generative AI at least once a day.
The establishment of Copilot as an in-house exclusive environment and linking internal work data are the background that led to high utilization. This is because, unlike general Generative AI, it is linked to an in-house system and provides answers based on internal data. It is also free from security and access rights issues in the use of internal data.
The actual way of working is also changing. Data classification work has reduced related work hours by 90% as it automates standard setting and classification using the Claude model in Copilot. Reporting is also being used in such a way that GPT and Claude models create drafts that reflect the work context and employees simply revise them.
In the future, optimization strategies for each type of work will also be promoted. While maintaining Copilot as a company-wide standard tool, LG U+ plans to selectively use AI that fits its purpose, such as codex and Claude code for coding, Figma and Claude for service planning, and Gemini for content production.
Previously, LG U+ introduced Copilot to the in-house work environment and established a dedicated environment in which important data are not used for external AI learning. This is the result of promoting an "AI First" strategy that combines AI and in-house data to use AI for all tasks.
"Since its introduction, its use has been confirmed in various work areas within a relatively short period of time," said Hwang Seung-yeon, head of LG Uplus Strategy and AX. "We will continue to supplement related systems so that AI-based work environments can be established stably in the future."
