Is ‘Ted Lasso’ Coming Back for Season 5?

Do you still believe in believe? Because you best believe that Ted Lasso may not be over yet. With the once-beloved sports comedy near the end of its rather unexpected fourth season, the matter of season 5 looms large. Although Apple TV hasn't confirmed a new season, there's a good chance it's already set—and coming even sooner than you might think.

In 2023, Ted Lasso went out with a third season that by and large felt like its last. With all of its major stories resolved and Jason Sudeikis's title protagonist on a plane headed back to Kansas, it felt like the end of the road for an American abroad. But in 2024, movement started on a fourth season "revival," with the focus on women's football. Well, here we are in 2026 with a whole new season of Ted Lasso centered on the newly established Richmond W.F.C. in the second division.

While the quality of the show has been rocky at best, Ted Lasso is still popular, and its season 4 premiere back in August was a huge draw for Apple TV. But is this high performance enough to warrant a fifth season? Here's what we know so far.

Officially, Ted Lasso has not been renewed for season 5—yet. But there are promising signs of life.

At the red carpet premiere for Ted Lasso season 4, Screen Rant spoke to Apple TV's Eddy Cue, senior vice president of services, who said the new season is "certainly good enough" to warrant a season 5 renewal. "I think there's plenty of stories to go on. We'll show up. No worries," Cue said.

Earlier in July, a feature for The Hollywood Reporter published quotes from Jason Sudeikis who said that he has a new three-season arc in mind for the show.

Meanwhile, there is an unfounded rumor that Ted Lasso is shooting its fifth season anyway even without an official statement by Apple TV. On X, a user named Sigmund Judge (@sigjudge) posted on August 24 that "multiple sources" have informed him that the show's production will kick off in London in January. Sigmund's profile identifies him as an "Apple TV aficionado" who posts and reposts news related to Apple TV shows and Apple products.

While Apple TV has yet to come out and say that Ted Lasso is full steam ahead for season 5 (and season 6!), die-hard Greyhounds faithful can probably rest easy. Even Apple TV execs are down for it, and that Sudeikis already has a story in mind. Honestly, it's only a matter of time. You just gotta believe.
