‘I’ve got nowhere else to turn’: young Chinese flock to training camps amid AI boom
Short‑term programmes to help young Chinese jobseekers learn AI tools have flourished since OpenAI released ChatGPT in 2022.
As China’s job market becomes increasingly cutthroat in the era of artificial intelligence, more young people are flocking to AI training camps in an effort to stay competitive. Shenzhen-based company Qieman is among the first in the country to launch such programmes, where complete beginners are expected to land jobs as junior AI trainers. However, the role may not be as glamorous as the title suggests.
