Kincardine's Canada Day fireworks now set for August
Weather has prompted the Municipality of Kincardine to postpone its Canada Day fireworks once again.
Wednesday's stormy weather originally prompted the Municipality to move the annual fireworks show to Friday, before another forecast for rain and potential thunderstorms resulted in rescheduling to next month.
The Municipality said given the long setup time, which takes seven to 10 hours, Friday's forecast would not allow crews to safely set up. There is also a risk of further damage to the fireworks and equipment following Wednesday's severe storm.
The fireworks will now go Saturday, August 15.
"Safety has been our priority throughout this process," read the statement from the Municipality. "We know how much our community looks forward to the fireworks, and we share everyone's disappointment. Rather than risk the safety of the fireworks crew, we've chosen to reschedule the display so residents and visitors can enjoy the full fireworks experience under safer conditions."
The Municipality also extended appreciation to Super Nova Fireworks Inc. for their flexibility and continued partnership, as well as the Kincardine Scottish Festival and Highland Games for their support in accommodating the original rescheduled date.
