Long Beach gets its own film festival

LONG BEACH, Calif. — Long Beach will enter the spotlight with its inaugural film festival at the historic Art Theatre of Long Beach, with the goal of making the city a destination for creative storytelling.

After hours of going through hundreds of submissions, the organizers landed on four feature films and 26 short films that will be shown throughout August 29 and 30. They will also host workshops aimed at helping filmmakers thrive, DJ parties, and a storylab for local youth to learn from a professional filmmaker.

The festival kicks off with an opening night party at the Queen Mary on Friday. Tickets range from $10 to $150.
