Man dead after motorcycle crash in northwest Calgary

Police say a 19-year-old man is dead after his motorcycle crashed in the community of Evanston in northwest Calgary on Friday afternoon.

The crash happened after 4 p.m. at Symons Valley Parkway N.W. and Evanston View N.W.

Police said the motorcycle was the sole vehicle involved in the crash, and no one else was hurt.

Symons Valley Parkway N.W. was closed between Evanspark Circle and Evanston View N.W. for several hours following the crash, before reopening Friday night.

Police said the man's next of kin have been notified.

Back-to-back rollovers on Deerfoot Trail

There was also a serious collision on Deerfoot Trail at 17th Ave. S.E. just after midnight on Saturday.

Police said a semi-truck rolled over in the northbound lanes. Then, another vehicle driving by also rolled over, and three people were ejected from it.

While their injuries were initially thought to be serious, police later said their injuries were not serious, though all three were taken to hospital as a precaution. The status of the semi-truck driver was not available.

Northbound Deerfoot Trail was closed at Peigan Trail for several hours before reopening on Saturday morning.
