Man found dead on Highway 1 in Burnaby, closing eastbound traffic: RCMP
Victim's injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle, police say
Police say a man was found dead on Highway 1 in Burnaby, B.C., Tuesday morning.
The victim's injuries were consistent with being hit by a vehicle, according to a news release from the RCMP's B.C. Highway Patrol.
The eastbound lanes of the highway, where the man was found, were shut down to ensure evidence was preserved, said the release.
"We are investigating all possibilities and have not ruled anything out at this point," said Sgt. Michael McLaughlin with B.C. Highway Patrol.

The release said highway patrol has taken over the investigation because the victim may have been killed by a vehicle that left the scene.
Traffic is being diverted onto Canada Way at Kensington Avenue, according to Burnaby RCMP.
The highway closure was still in effect as of 10 a.m. PT.
Police are asking anyone who saw anything unusual or who has dashcam footage from Highway 1 near Kensington between 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. PT to call B.C. Highway Patrol in Burnaby.
RCMP have asked people to avoid the area.
