Man killed in collision between HGV and bike

A man was killed in a collision between an HGV and a bicycle in Bromsgrove.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called to the junction of New Road and the A38 at 15:34 BST on Tuesday.

"On arrival, a man, the cyclist, was found. Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene," a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.

West Mercia Police have been contacted for comment. The A38 was blocked in both directions between the A448 and Charford Road on Tuesday evening as a result of the crash. New Road was also closed both ways between Wellington Road and Bant Mill Road.

The collision appeared to have happened in the Bromsgrove Route Enhancement Programme roadworks on the northbound side of the A38.
