Man shot dead in vehicle in Surrey, police say
A man was found with gunshot wounds in a vehicle that had hit a hydro pole, knocking out power in nearby homes
Police are investigating a homicide after a man in Surrey, B.C., was shot dead in a vehicle just after midnight early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to calls of a shooting around 12:22 a.m. in the area of 138 Street and 62 Avenue in Surrey's Newton neighbourhood, according to a release from the Surrey Police Service (SPS).
It said they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds in a vehicle that had hit a power pole.
Despite life-saving efforts, the release said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
It said no arrests have been made, and the RCMP's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the investigation.

According to B.C. Hydro's outage map, 64 homes have been out of power in the area since around 12:30 a.m. due to the incident.
This marks Surrey's 13th homicide of the year, according to SPS.
