Men jailed for cannabis farm near police station

Two men have been jailed for their part in producing a multi-million pound cannabis farm on the same street as a police station.

Officers made the discovery on Nelson Street, near Bradford city centre, on 25 November 2024 after a strong smell of cannabis was detected coming from the building located close to Trafalgar House Police Station.

After forcing entry, they found nearly 7,000 plants in 19 rooms with an estimated street value of £6.2m.

Sheraz Ahmed, 24, and Hung Nguyen, 65, both of no fixed address, were jailed for 24 and 27 months respectively at Bradford Crown Court on Tuesday after they admitted producing a class B drug.

Sgt Barry Coleman from West Yorkshire Police said the pair were involved in "a significant and organised operation".

"We welcome the sentence handed down - drugs have no place in our society."
