Michael Moyo's Ocular AI Brings Human Expertise to Artificial Intelligence

Michael Moyo co-founded Ocular AI in 2024 to improve artificial intelligence systems with human expertise and multilingual conversational data.

The company develops datasets based on natural human conversations to help developers build more realistic AI voice assistants and generated voices.

Beyond custom AI datasets, Ocular AI provides AI model evaluation and benchmarking services before commercial deployment.

Michael Moyo is a computer scientist and technology entrepreneur. He serves as the co-founder and chief executive officer of Ocular AI, a company that develops resources designed to improve artificial intelligence systems by integrating human expertise.

Founded in 2024, Ocular AI converts the knowledge, skills and experience of professionals across multiple industries into data that artificial intelligence models can use to perform practical real-world tasks.

One of the company's core activities focuses on processing human speech and conversations. Ocular AI creates proprietary datasets from natural conversations recorded in multiple languages. These recordings capture authentic interactions, including accents, hesitations, interruptions and spontaneous reactions.

The company says these datasets allow developers to build voice assistants that communicate more naturally and fluently. In parallel, Ocular AI works with actors and specialized speakers to improve the quality and realism of AI-generated voices.

Beyond developing customized solutions and ready-to-use data catalogs, Ocular AI helps organizations evaluate their technologies. The company provides AI model benchmarking services that enable clients to measure the performance of their systems before commercial deployment.

Moyo began his entrepreneurial journey before launching Ocular AI. In 2020, he founded The MentalLiberty Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports youth mental health. During the same year, he also co-founded Ipahive, a startup that develops infrastructure for the fintech sector.

Moyo earned a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth. His academic training helped him secure positions at major technology and healthcare companies. He started his professional career in 2021 as a biomedical engineering intern at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research. He strengthened his technical expertise the following year when he joined Microsoft as a software and data engineering intern.
