'Mirzapur: The Movie' box office Day 2: Pankaj Tripathi film crosses Rs 50 crore in India

‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ continued its strong theatrical run on Saturday, adding Rs 31 crore to its India net collection on the second day. The film, which arrived in cinemas on September 4, has now crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in domestic net earnings.

The film opened with Rs 25.75 crore on Friday. Its Day 2 collection represented a 20.4% increase over the opening-day figure, taking its two-day India net total to Rs 56.75 crore. The India gross collection stood at Rs 68.20 crore after two days.

The film also recorded a strong overseas performance on Saturday, collecting Rs 6 crore. Its overseas gross total reached Rs 10.25 crore, taking the worldwide gross collection to Rs 78.45 crore.

The second-day numbers came from 11,256 shows across India. The Hindi version accounted for the bulk of the domestic business, with the Telugu-dubbed version contributing Rs 0.25 crore on Day 2.

Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film brings the world of the popular ‘Mirzapur’ series to the big screen. Pankaj Tripathi returns as Kaleen Bhaiya, while Ali Fazal and Divyenndu reprise their roles as Guddu Pandit and Munna Tripathi.

The cast also includes Ravi Kishan, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Gaur, Shweta Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Sheeba Chadha and Rajesh Tailang. Jitendra Kumar takes on the role of Bablu Pandit, replacing Vikrant Massey, while Ravi Kishan joins the franchise as a new addition.

At the box office, the film is competing with Yash's ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups’ and ‘Hanuman Ansh’. It is also sharing screen space with Arshad Warsi's ‘Jeevan Bheema Yojana’.

The film is presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment. Puneet Krishna has written the film, while Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar are among its producers.
