Montreal police officers face serious racism allegations
Montreal police are facing one of the most serious racism scandals in the force's recent history after dismantling an entire night patrol team in Montreal North over allegations of racist and discriminatory behaviour. Sixteen officers, including two sergeants, have had their service weapons seized, with two suspended and others reassigned pending the outcome of an internal investigation. The allegations have sparked outrage among political leaders and community groups, renewed calls for police body cameras, and raised fresh concerns about accountability and trust between police and Montreal's racialized communities.
