Namibia and Angola Join Forces to Accelerate Digital Transformation

According to the two governments, the partnership demonstrates a shared commitment to deepening bilateral relations and harnessing technology and communication as key drivers of sustainable socio-economic growth.

Namibia and Angola have strengthened their bilateral ties in the digital sector with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing cooperation in information and communication technology (ICT) and media development. The agreement was signed during the official opening of ANGOTIC 2026 in Luanda, Angola, by Namibia’s Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, and Angola’s Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira.

The MoU establishes a framework for collaboration in several areas of mutual interest, including the promotion of ICT and media cooperation, the organization of joint events and initiatives, and the exchange of knowledge and expertise between professionals in both countries. The agreement also places a strong emphasis on cybersecurity cooperation, reflecting the growing importance of digital security in the region’s technological development agenda.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of ANGOTIC 2026, Angola’s premier information and communication technologies forum. The annual event brings together government officials, industry leaders, innovators, academics, and technology companies to exchange ideas, showcase emerging technologies, and explore opportunities for digital transformation across Africa.

Held under the theme “On the Road to Digital Transformation,” ANGOTIC 2026 highlights the critical role of innovation, digital inclusion, connectivity, and regional partnerships in shaping Africa’s digital future. The Namibia-Angola MoU aligns with these objectives and is expected to foster stronger cross-border collaboration in advancing the continent’s digital economy.
