Napanee barn fire causes millions of dollars of damage

No people or animals harmed when long barn burned on South Shore Road around 7 p.m. Monday

Five different fire departments were summoned to a major barn fire in southern Greater Napanee, Ont., on Monday evening, according to the town.

A spokesperson said firefighters from the eastern Ontario town were called to South Shore Road around 7 p.m.

The approximately 250-metre-long barn was "completely consumed" by flames, but a nearby barn was protected.

No people or animals were injured in the fire, the town said. Damage is estimated at $5 million.

This is at least the fourth serious barn fire in eastern Ontario since late May.
