Nearly a quarter of Quebec voters cast advance ballots for Oct. 5 election

Élections Québec says 23.6% of voters participated in advance polling

Close to a quarter of eligible Quebec voters have already cast their ballot with six days left before election day.

Élections Québec says 23.6 per cent of voters participated in advance polling, including polls on school campuses and retirement homes.

Advance polls were open on Sunday and Monday.

Candidates have six days left to pitch the remaining voters ahead of election day on Oct. 5.

French-only Quebec election voter guides prompted 160 complaints over 5 days

Prior to advance polls being opened, Élections Québec faced questions about its directive to ask whether a voter had the right to English communication before speaking to them in that language.

The agency had said the directive was to comply with Quebec's newest language law, also known as Bill 96, which restricts who can receive communications from the government in English.
