Nicely Entertainment and Canyon Productions Complete Hybrid Film “A Secret Royal Romance”

Nicely Entertainment and Canyon Productions have wrapped production on “A Secret Royal Romance,” a destination romance filmed in both traditional 16:9 and vertical 9:16 formats. The project reflects a growing industry shift toward multi-platform storytelling designed to meet changing audience consumption patterns.

“We’re excited about ‘A Secret Royal Romance’ and what it represents for the future of storytelling,” said Vanessa Shapiro, CEO of Nicely Entertainment. “As viewing habits continue to evolve, projects that can live across both traditional and vertical platforms are becoming increasingly important. We’re proud to be exploring that space with this film and to partnering on this project with the Canyon Productions team.”

“Partnering with Nicely Entertainment on this film has been a great experience,” said Shawn Boskie, CEO of Canyon Productions. “It’s a heartfelt story with strong performances and a fresh production approach. We’re thrilled to bring it to audiences and to be part of a project that pushes creative boundaries.”

Shot on location in Chandler, Oklahoma, the film stars Alexandra Harris, known for “A Country Music Christmas” and a returning Nicely Entertainment talent, alongside Robert Palmer Watkins of “General Hospital” and “Last Three Days.” The feature is directed by Roberta Sparta, whose experience spans both traditional and vertical storytelling formats. Vanessa Shapiro, CEO of Nicely Entertainment, and Shawn Boskie, CEO of Canyon Productions, serve as executive producers.

“A Secret Royal Romance” follows Princess Seraphina, who discreetly steps away from her royal obligations and adopts a new identity as aspiring writer Sarah Jennings in the small town of Chandler. After renting a guest house from Logan Hayes, a post-doctoral researcher striving to secure funding for his heart research, the two form a meaningful connection. As Sarah navigates ordinary life and works to complete her novel, and Logan pushes forward with his scientific ambitions, their growing bond faces challenges stemming from her concealed identity and the demands of her royal responsibilities.

The project stands out for its hybrid production model. It was developed simultaneously as a full-length television movie and as a vertical micro-drama, with tailored scene variations and pacing adjustments for each format while maintaining the story’s emotional core.

With “A Secret Royal Romance,” Nicely Entertainment and Canyon Productions position themselves at the forefront of format innovation, aligning production strategy with the expanding demand for flexible, cross-platform content in the global entertainment market.
