North Korea announced that it has incorporated artificial intelligence into a missile

North Korea stated that it had incorporated artificial intelligence into the medium-range strategic missile it tested on October 3. the statement says the country leader's sisters Kim Jong Un's, released by the state agency KCNA.

North Korea noted the discrepancy in estimates of the missile's flight range: South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff reported a range of over 700 km, whereas Japan's Ministry of Defense estimated it at approximately 680 km.

A representative of the DPRK claims that this discrepancy is due to the unique flight trajectory of North Korean missiles. When a so-called wave-like trajectory is employed, the adversary allegedly loses the ability to track the missile after its initial ascent.

"One must take into account the missile's speed. It is also worth recalling our statements that it is capable of changing its flight trajectory at low altitude and that artificial intelligence has been incorporated into it. In other words, this means there is effectively no way to avoid this strike," wrote Kim Jong Un's sister.

The implemented technology reportedly allows for setting at least four flight trajectory modes, depending on the objective and the target.

Russia is using North Korean ballistic missiles to strike Ukraine; the advancement of the DPRK's missile technologies poses a direct risk to Ukraine as well. The use of North Korean weapons in the war against Ukraine also provides the DPRK with... the opportunity to test it in real combat conditions and take the results into account for further modernization.

DPRK reported, which conducted a training launch of a medium-range strategic missile on October 3, personally observed by Kim Jong UnThe exercises were conducted to test the hypersonic strategic weapon system and its readiness for deployment.

According to Pyongyang, the missile flew 1,000 km in a northeasterly direction and struck a designated target in the Sea of Japan. Kim Jong Un stated that such tests are aimed at further strengthening the DPRK's nuclear deterrence and demonstrating the missile forces' readiness to launch a retaliatory strike.

In comments Hong Sung-pyo, an expert at the Korea Institute for Military Affairs, suggested to AFP that artificial intelligence in missile systems could be used to process target information and during the launch phase.

However, according to him, it is too early to assess the extent to which North Korea's claims reflect reality. The missile's ability to maneuver makes interception more difficult, but it does not in itself mean that the missile can strike targets with precision.
