Obama blasts Trump’s ‘unimaginable’ White House media ban
Former president Barack Obama has criticised Donald Trump's decision to ban three news outlets from the White House, calling the move "unimaginable".
Speaking at Colgate University on Friday (18 September), Obama said he could not have foreseen some of what is happening now.
"I'm trying to think what would have happened if I had said, 'You know what, Fox News? You're out of here,'" he said.
He said if 30 to 35% of Americans accept it, the country lacks a proper understanding of what democracy requires.
In response to an inquiry from The Independent, the White House declined to comment beyond Trump's remarks on the subject.
