One dead, multiple injured in north Edmonton apartment fire

The City of Edmonton is warning of traffic disruptions Tuesday morning as police and emergency crews continue to work at the scene of a north-side apartment fire.

On Monday night, fire crews were called to a vehicle collision and fire at the building near 132 Avenue and 82 Street. In a Tuesday morning press release, the city confirmed one resident of the building is dead, and the driver is in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Motorists are asked to avoid 82 Street between 137 Avenue and Yellowhead Trail as Edmonton Fire Rescue Services work at the scene.

Police continue to investigate and identify building residents who are unaccounted for. The Red Cross is also on scene to provide aid to residents.
