One man dead, another arrested after shooting in downtown London

Police will maintain a visible presence in the area as they continue to investigate

London police say one man is dead and another in custody after a shooting in the area of Central Avenue and Richmond Street Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the area at around 5:45 p.m., police said. Officials found a man with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

A suspect was arrested, and police said they will maintain a visible presence in the area as their investigation continues.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., and who may have information, dash-cam footage or residential or business video surveillance to contact the London Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
