'Paradise Lost' - Director Yeon Sang

Fresh off the release of his new infection movie Colony, South Korean filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho’s next film has been purchased by Well Go USA Entertainment. It’s titled Paradise Lost.

The upcoming film is being described as a mystery-thriller.

Variety reports, “Paradise Lost will bow Sept. 13 at Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre as part of TIFF’s Special Presentations lineup, marking Yeon’s fourth appearance at the festival.”

“A mother’s young son mysteriously disappears along with a bus full of children. Years later, he unexpectedly returns — but has changed in ways she could never have imagined.”

“I am thrilled to present Paradise Lost to North American audiences through Well Go USA,” the filmmaker said in a statement. “Paradise Lost is a psychological thriller that dives deep into the abyss of a mother, caught between the son she resurrected in a virtual world through AI and the son who returns after being presumed dead.”

“Even though Colony and Paradise Lost are entirely different in the way they present fear and entertainment, I hope North American audiences are able to enjoy both,” he added.

“Audiences are in for a haunting, emotionally resonant experience, and we’re proud to introduce the film to U.S. audiences following its world premiere at TIFF,” said Well Go USA president and CEO Doris Pfardrescher. She calls the film a “gripping and deeply human mystery that showcases his singular ability to find terror in the most intimate places.”

Yeon Sang-ho of course previously directed the zombie masterpiece Train to Busan.
