Pearl City Little Leaguers win World Series

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Pearl City Little Leaguers were crowned world champions Saturday.

They beat Curacao five-to-nothing to win the 2026 Senior League Baseball World Series, the division for kids ages 13 to 16.

The finals came down to two island-based teams, in a battle of Pacific versus Caribbean.

After falling in game one of the tournament, the Pearl City team fought their way back into the championships to win it all.

Pearl City Little League Head Coach Ty Takahashi has worked with some of the players for around 10 years, adding another layer of meaning to the big win.

“It means a lot to me,” Takahashi said. “I’ve been working with these boys or knew these boys since they were five years old and just really try to instill into them being good people.”

Takahashi says he’s grateful to share this win with the community.

“I’m not the type to say too much, but I’m just honored and privileged and thankful that I was able to do it with these boys and for the state and the community,” Takahashi said. “I’m really happy and just happy for everyone, for the whole state.”

After spending three weeks on the Mainland, the team is set to return to Honolulu Sunday afternoon.
